What does a cozy group of women in cyber talk about when we finally meet? Neha Malhotra Zi Xuan Low Sneha Sridhar
Allies, opportunities, trials & tribulations, workplace culture, burnout, and an overarching passion for cybersecurity.
Community, equal opportunity, and support is key to elevating the experience of women in the cybersecurity profession.
Here, dei can and does play a crucial role.
ISC2‘s Cybersecurity Workforce Study 2023 has highlighted the importance of increasing genderdiversity in cybersecurity and the positive impact that DEI initiatives can have on the workforce. According to the study, 69% believed that an inclusive environment was essential for a security team’s success, and 65% felt it was important for their team to be diverse.
There is much to cheer, as the cybersecurity workforce is becoming more diverse. The Asia-Pacific region has seen rapid diversification, including efforts to increase the representation of women in the field. However, there are still challenges as women continue to make up a significant minority in the cybersecurityworkforce globally, including in Asia.
I left feeling motivated by the conversation with these talented and driven women, who looked out for each other and cared about the profession. How can we make the workplace even better so that more women will be inspired to join – and remain there?
I look forward to presenting my insights at the ISC2 Global DEI Summit to be held in London in July, where conversations will highlight how we can improve the experiences of women and other underserved communities in cyber. This in turn can create more equitable and inclusive environments for all cybersecurity professionals.
