Where does the human element fit in as we try to balance lightning-fast AI innovation with digital governance? The short answer: at the very centre.

Our recent GTACS 2026 panel proved that discussing cyber resilience doesn’t have to be dry. Our session was short, snappy, and packed with high-energy fun — as you can tell from the pictures!

On the panel

• Charmian Aw highlighted the power of finding alignment and common ground first, rather than letting our differences stall progress.
• Lorraine Lee reminded us that strong foundations are key: every shiny new AI innovation still requires the “not-so-sexy” underpinnings of robust data privacy and cybersecurity.
• I built on the panel’s consensus that communication and community are vital, adding that true resilience fundamentally requires us to prioritise empathy and wellbeing.

Themes that resonated

The day was filled with themes that deeply resonated with my own view on human-centric security, especially:

• Ben Tan pointed out that AI = overwhelm, and that third-party risk must be tackled before introducing AI.
• Christine Ang captured the necessity of AI literacy as it becomes embedded in everyday life, asking how we can better help our people use it safely and responsibly.
• Gerry Chng asked a vital question: what are people actually talking about when they say “AI”? There is a lot of agent- and AI-washing out there, and we aren’t always speaking the same language.

Beyond the stage, it was an absolute blast talking tech, work and life with Shamane, PB Ong, Nan, Cyril and Joon-Nie — and it’s always a delight to talk shop and hang out with Sid!
