It’s the attention economy and people are overwhelmed. So, how do we get them to listen to issues that matter — to them, even if they don’t know it yet?
In my latest conversation on #InfluenceUnlocked, we dive into my journey of building authentic influence and trust in a complex and fast-paced digital world.
Driving real behaviour change about digital security, wellbeing, and AI risk means moving past complex, dry data and translating it into human-centric stories that connect on a personal level.
For me, this breaks down into three key pillars:
- Values-based advocacy: Aligning your message with your audience’s inherent values so they instantly see why it matters to them.
- Making learning memorable: The path to behaviour change starts with information but runs through emotion, identity, and relevance.
- Action: Complexity is no excuse. Give people practical and simple tools they can use immediately.
This is where “Stop. Breathe. Think.” comes in.
Why does this simple cyber framework actually work? Because it disrupts our psychology under pressure — forcing a quick cognitive pause that breaks the automated, emotional reactions to threats and replaces panic with deliberate, safe choices.
Thank you Arun, Pauline and the Influence team for giving me this platform to spread the good word. As always, it was a fun and insightful experience.
