A key takeaway was that fake news is here to stay, and will become part of the comms and PR playbook for every firm. To battle fake news, companies must: (1) proactively and preemptively build trust, and (2) walk the talk with regard to their values to protect themselves against bad and misleading information about their brands online.
I also added that education and critical digital literacy plays a critical role in curbing the spread of fake news, and we all have a role to play in being more discerning netizens.
