❓How can we bring in, retain, and help more women to thrive in cybersecurity?

❓What lessons can we un/learn to make cyber a more inclusive domain?

❓And why is it so important for overall cybersecurity outcomes?

These were the central themes of the Women In Cyber panel that I had the privilege to moderate again at the Singapore International Cyber Week yesterday.

The brief given was to make it fun, light, interactive, and inspiring – and so it was, thanks to the amazing panellists April Chin Beatriz Silveira ITIL Leader,CISSP,CISM,CRISC,CCISO Helen Popp Hui Yi Loke Shamane Tan and insightful audience questions 🌟💪

There were several inspiring takeaways on grit, courage, fun, passion, skills, and overwork on the job, covering a wide range of topics, including:

• How cyber inclusion builds overall cyber resilience
• Transitioning into and thriving in cybersecurity
• Maintaining wellbeing in demanding roles
• Recognition and leadership styles
• Staying abreast of complex cybersecurity challenges and solutions

There was also a rapid fire round that added to the fun – and the authenticity.

Authenticity, communication, presence, persistence – these human skills were cited by the panellists as central to moving ahead in what is typically considered a technical field. Humanness matters.

It was heartening to see the smiles and positive vibes in the audience and see both new and familiar faces supporting us, and of course, to have my own support crew. Cybersecurity, is after all, a team sport.
